The question about singing in Zhongli was never “is there anywhere”, it is “which kind”.
Same voice, same evening — walk into a chain room, a local KTV or a karaoke shop and the bill at the end can differ threefold. Rd with over 4,400 reviews and the most rooms in the city; Kaiyue KTV Zhongli (凱悅 中壢店) at No. 136 Datong Rd holds 4.8 stars from over 3,400 reviews, with service the thing reviewers keep naming; Holiday KTV Zhongli Zhongmei (好樂迪中壢中美店) at No. 137 Zhongmei Rd Sec. 2 completes the line.
All three sell the same thing: a current songbook, sound gear that does not fail, late sessions that actually open. The band runs about NT$200-300 per head on weekday afternoons and NT$500-800 per head after eight on Friday and Saturday nights. The rooms are a little older than the chains’. That is the truth. But if the night is about singing rather than photographing, the step you save covers a round of stir-fry.
Karaoke shops: a drink’s worth of money, a whole evening
Huanchang Tiandi Karaoke (歡唱天地卡拉ok) at B1, No. 645 Yanping Rd, 4.6 stars from over 420 reviews, is the type’s standard-bearer in Zhongli.
The billing logic is nothing like KTV: no room time for sale, only seats and drinks. Open-hall song queue, sharing the mic with strangers, perfectly comfortable alone, and the tab is often just a drink or two. If you want to sing your own playlist in private, wrong type; if you want to sing cheaply until closing and hear strangers sing back, nothing beats it.
Mini booths: three songs while you wait
The two-person glass pods inside malls, cinemas and arcades charge by the minute or by the song, about NT$200 for half an hour.
None are on record — these spots move fast, this floor this year, gone the next, so we name none. Their role is not “a singing plan” anyway; it is three songs before the movie starts. For real singing, go back to a room.
Saying it straight: when singing costs least

The same room can cost double on a Saturday night versus a Tuesday afternoon, with identical gear — the widest price gap in Zhongli singing, full stop. The priciest slot is Friday and Saturday, eight to midnight, with a queue attached. Book afternoons when you can; if a weekend night it must be, reserve first and budget one step up. Small group, pure singing: skip rooms altogether and take the karaoke shop.
