Zhongli's downtown has one easy landmark: the SOGO tower on Yuanhua Rd. Most visitors leave when the store closes at half past nine — which is exactly when the district's real night begins. KTVs, bistros and massage parlors grew in a ring around this building, all within a short walk. Here's the route, from seven to the small hours.
The layout: nightlife in a ring around SOGO
Each road radiating from SOGO has a job: Zhongyang E. Rd and Datong Rd handle karaoke, Zhongyang W. Rd is the old drinking quarter, and Zhongmei Rd and Xinsheng Rd hide the massage shops. Seven to nine: dinner and shopping inside
Start easy — eat upstairs, browse a floor or two. When the crowd drains out around nine, don't follow it home. If the food court didn't land, the izakayas and small eateries along Yuanhua Rd and Zhongyang W. Rd stay open; line your stomach, the night is long.
After nine: KTV's home turf
The SOGO area holds Zhongli's densest KTV cluster: Cashbox on Zhongyang E. Rd, Kaiyue on Datong Rd, Holiday on Zhongmei Rd, plus the old-school Star Avenue KTV on Fuxing Rd. Not singing? Walk toward Datong Rd, where bistros like Yi Dian Jiu Yi and Liangshan keep the tables warm past midnight.
